Brad Pauls vs Bradley Goldsmith: Fight Preview, Prediction & Analysis

Boxing Data
#stats#analysis#data#fight#bout

Brad Pauls isn’t a fighter who takes a backward step. The Cornishman from Newquay has spent the last decade absorbing everything the domestic middleweight division can throw at him — two losses to recognised champions, a draw and TKO win against Nathan Heaney, 147 career rounds in the bank — and he’s still pushing forward. The 32-year-old “Newquay Bomb” comes into June 20 on the back of a TKO9 rebound win over Shakiel Thompson in March, and now faces Bradley Goldsmith — a 14-1 Midlander who arrives at the biggest night of his career with a point to prove.

For Pauls, this is a stepping stone back towards the domestic title picture. For Goldsmith, it’s the night he finds out what tier he genuinely belongs in.

Brad Pauls — “The Newquay Bomb”

Brad Pauls (21-2-1) has been a fixture in the British middleweight mix since 2016. The 5’10” Cornishman — reach 70.9”/180cm, orthodox stance — has logged 147 career rounds and fought every serious name on the domestic scene without exception. His record isn’t spotless, but the company he keeps is: his two losses are to Denzel Bentley (British champion) and Tyler Denny (English champion), his draw was against Nathan Heaney, and he TKO’d Heaney in the rematch.

The March 2026 TKO9 of Shakiel Thompson was the right bounce-back at the right time. After the Bentley defeat (UD12, lost all three cards in December 2024), Pauls didn’t shrink — he went to Co-Op Live Manchester and stopped a durable opponent in nine. The power is still there. The pressure game is still working. He arrives at St Mary’s in the best form he’s shown in two years.

Bradley Goldsmith

Bradley Goldsmith (14-1) has been steadily building through the regional and national middleweight scenes since his 2021 debut. The Midlands-based 28-year-old has been making noise: a stunning KO1 over Rogers Ssenyondo in Dubai in July 2025 announced him to a wider audience, and he followed it with a PTS8 win over Jordan Dujon in November 2025 to stay active through the winter.

But the question hanging over this fight is the quality of opposition Goldsmith has faced up to this point. His wins have come against fighters Pauls has long since surpassed in terms of level — and a first-round KO of Ssenyondo, however brutal it looked, doesn’t tell us whether Goldsmith can handle 10 sustained rounds against a man who has been to the championship distance with Heaney, Bentley, and Denny. This is the proving ground. Goldsmith either passes and announces himself as a genuine domestic contender, or the level exposes him.

Styles Matchup

Pauls fights behind a stiff jab with sustained pressure through the middle rounds. His TKO12 of Heaney in the rematch is the best data point on what he does best: after 12 competitive rounds in the first fight ended in a draw, the second saw Pauls steadily turn the screw from round 6 onwards and force the stoppage at the end. He’s a fighter who gets better as the rounds accumulate, not worse.

Goldsmith’s KO1 of Ssenyondo and TKO3 of Dube signal genuine finishing power — but both came in the opening rounds against lower-level opposition. The critical unknowns are: does that power translate up the levels? And can he sustain a high-output performance across 10 rounds against a fighter who applies unrelenting pressure from every angle?

The class gap at this level of domestic boxing is real. Pauls has been to war with recognised champions and been the last man standing more often than not. Goldsmith hasn’t been in a fight that tests him like this yet. But he’s young, ambitious, and punching hard — and an early right hand landing cleanly remains a live possibility that Pauls can’t afford to ignore.

Prediction

Pauls’s experience and quality of opposition faced is the decisive factor in this matchup. He has been in harder fights, against better opponents, for longer — and his recent TKO9 rebound win shows he’s far from finished as a force in this division. Goldsmith is a future domestic contender, but this fight has arrived one step too early, against an opponent who knows every trick in the British middleweight playbook.

Prediction: Brad Pauls by unanimous decision 🏆
